Root canals can be the “Achilles’ heel” for many dentists. Rest assured, Dr. Adi has extensive experience in pain-free root canal therapy using the latest advances in endodontics. Feel free to browse our photo gallery to see the textbook results we’ve achieved for our patients.
Endodontics deals with diseases of the tissue, blood vessels, and nerves inside the tooth. The most common endodontic treatment is a root canal, a procedure that removes infected tissue and fills the canal inside the tooth. A root canal clears the infection while letting you keep your natural tooth.
Signs You May Need a Root Canal
-
Severe tooth pain when chewing
-
Tooth pain that wakes you up at night
-
Strong sensitivity to hot or cold that lingers
-
Discoloration or darkening of the tooth
-
Swollen gums near the affected tooth
What Does Treatment Involve?
First, an opening is made in the tooth. The infected tissue is removed, and the root canal is thoroughly cleaned. If Dr. Adi decides to complete treatment over more than one visit, he will place a temporary filling to protect the tooth. At your next visit, he removes the temporary filling, cleans the root canal and pulp chamber again, and places a permanent filling, a crown, or both.
With proper care, a tooth treated with a root canal can last a lifetime. And because a filling or crown is placed at the end of treatment, others are unlikely to notice you’ve had one.
